CREATING A

WORLD OF HOPE

THROUGH

AFRICAN ORPHANS

Horizon International is a non-profit Christian relief and development organization dedicated to creating a world of hope through African orphans, one child at a time.

We serve these orphans and their communities regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender, enabling them to break the cycle of poverty and live free from the bonds of poverty and disease.

Horizon Strategy

Horizon’s first choice for orphan care is a home-based model in which orphans live with extended family or foster parents. We also operate a handful of children’s homes for children that have no other options

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…”

– James 1:27 (NIV)

Financial opportunities

Child Sponsorship

Child sponsorship is the backbone of everything we do. Sponsorship creates a one-on-one relationship between an American sponsor and an African child, providing for their essential needs of food, clothing, education, and basic health care.

Hope Builders

From U.S. and African staffing to utilities, our Hope Builders initiative provides the money necessary to implement and administer all of Horizon’s programs and ministries.

Higher Education

Through our Scholarship Endowment Fund, Horizon gives full scholarships for university and vocational programs to our orphans. As our endowment grows, we are able to award more scholarships.

Responding to the Urgent

Natural disaster response and significant medical issues are just some of the emergent needs that are covered by our Children’s Reserve Fund.

Infrastructure

Through our Special Project Funds, we undertake key infrastructure projects such as: building drop-in centers, primary schools, and vocational training centers; digging wells; growing crops; and raising flocks and herds.
